Aloka Lekhana
The word “photography” is based on the Greek φῶς (photos) “light” and γραφή (graphé) “representation by means of lines” or “drawing”, together meaning “drawing with light”.
~
I found this such a wonderful expression, drawing with light, that I translated it into Pali, Aloka Lekhana.
~
Not only does Aloka mean light, but it also means to shed light, illuminate, and yet another meaning is to see.
~

So what’s with the frickin giant hand? Is it drowning, waving or saving?

There are actually two, the one here and another on shore, just behind the crowd.
If you position yourself between them, the one in the water catches the sunrise and the one on shore catches the sunset.
Thousands of people gather here to watch the sunrise on New Year’s morning.
